MISSION STATEMENT AND ACTIVITIES


Priority objectives  of the department is to provide  education and  ongoing  professional training preparing students for a career of a medical laboratory technician who is able to work independently at various  departments of medical laboratories-clinical biochemistry, haematology and transfusiology, clinical microbiology, immunology, pathology, forensic medicine, hygiene etc.
The department conducts research and other professional activities.

Study programmes
The Department of Medical Laboratory Studies provides education in accredited study programmes:
•    Bachelor´s degree (Bc.) : full- time form in Medical Laboratory Studies
•    Bachelor´s degree (Bc.) : distance learning in Medical Laboratory Studies

Basic structure of the study programme include theoretical subjects with specialized disciplines in chemistry:  biochemistry, clinical biochemistry, analytical chemistry, laboratory technology. Other subjects necessary for the profession of a medical laboratory technician are haematology, transfusiology, microbiology, histology, pathology, genetics, immunology and diagnostic /examining methods in specialized disciplines.
