ERASMUS + - the European Union's education, training, youth and sport programme

What is the ERASMUS + Programme?

It is a programme of the European Union (EU) supporting international projects in the field of higher education, school education, adult education, vocational education, sport and youth activities.

Under the Erasmus + programme, universities may receive financial support for their professional activities from the European Commission (EC), the EU's executive body.

The higher education institution is entitled to participate in the activities supported by the ERASMUS + programme only after the ERASMUS CHARTER for HIGHER EDUCATION - ECHE has been awarded, based on previous request from the European Commission.

The Slovak Medical University in Bratislava (SMU) successfully applied for ECHE. SMU was awarded ECHE in 2014 and since then has been authorized to implement and carry out mobilities within the ERASMUS + programme.

Who can take part in the ERASMUS + programme at SMU?

Eligibility of individual mobilities

Students - study and internships abroad
University teachers and staff from enterprises invited to teach - teaching abroad

University staff - training abroad

ERASMUS + for university students

for all cycles of university education (bachelor, master, doctoral) and recent graduates (within 1 year after graduation)
each student up to a maximum of 12 months / at each level of education
medical / dentistry students up to a maximum of 24 months of their studies

Student mobilities for study

Study at a university abroad for students of the second and higher year
Duration: 3 to 12 months
Full recognition of the study programme provided that all activities indicated in the Learning agreement have been satisfactorily completed by the mobile student
No tuition fees at a partner university
Grant: The amount of the grant depends on the length of stay and the country of residence.

Student mobilities for traineeship

Work placement of students in a host university, business or other organization
Duration: 2 to 12 months
Full recognition of the traineeship programme provided that all activities indicated in the Learning agreement have been satisfactorily completed by the mobile student
Organized by a sending institution or consortium of institutions and other organizations
Grant: The amount of the grant depends on the length of stay and the country of residence.

ERASMUS + for university staff

Mobility of university teachers / Staff from enterprises invited to teach


Teaching/Lecturing at the receiving institution 
For university teachers and staff from enterprises invited to teach
Duration: 2 days to 2 months, minimum 8 lessons abroad / 8 lessons per week
Pre-agreed teaching programme – Mobility agreement for teaching

Mobility of higher education institution staff

Training provided by the receiving enterprise or host university
For all university staff (teachers or others, non-teaching staff)
Duration: 2 days to 2 months
Work plan agreed in advance – Mobility agreement for training

Grants are awarded directly by SMU to its students, university staff and staff from enterprises invited to teach.

Contact the relevant faculty coordinator to find out more about your mobility options
Fill in the form and apply for mobility (PDF,
DOCX)
Undertake the selection procedure
In case of selection for mobility, follow the instructions of your faculty coordinator when preparing the documents necessary in order to carry out the mobility
